So it is less than 1 week from Christmas…yes I countdown like most excited children and if they are honest a lot of grownups I know. I sat patiently yesterday and watched as the boxes of pretty paper and bows landed on our kitchen table and boxes were placed in them and then covered and tapped closed.
I know that there is something awesome in there for me, as I am one of the lucky ones. And I sat and watched I thought about the times that I WAS NOT SO LUCKY and was not even sure I would have a warm and safe place to sleep for the night. And I thought about all the articles and videos my mom reads and watches about so may animals who do not know love and may never in their lives.
We talk about the humans who have nothing and need our help but we forget so often of those we pass on the street ignoring the thin little bodies digging in the trash just to find a morsel of food to scrap by one more day. Or those who had love and knew what a family was to so quickly be thrown out like trash because they got sick or some they just got old and too MUCH work. I cannot help but wonder how you can turn love on and off so quickly.
It takes so little to gain unconditional love from an animal, food, water and a safe warm place to lay their head and a little love. So this year while you are overeating and needing to take a nap or getting that millionth hug from those you love make sure to see that animals in the world get the same.
I am not asking you to give a million dollars or even adopt a pet (I would love to see some special guys get a home for Christmas could you imagine the happiness that could bring them and maybe you as well) But even if you cannot offer a home please think about giving to make sure they get a Christmas to remember.
I am sharing a couple of links to my picks this year:
To provide a loving home, good food, high quality vet care, compassion and comfort to senior dogs for the remainder of their lives.
To build a Forever Foster Home network to enable us to place more senior dogs in loving, home settings for the duration of their lives.
To provide education on the joys and challenges of caring for aging dogs.
To work with other dog rescue groups to promote the adoption of senior dogs.
HAPPY ANIMALS CLUB –
To rescue animals in need, to provide them with the highest standards of care, and to find good homes for them.
Happy Animals Club is the only no-kill animal shelter in the Davao region. It was started by then 9-year-old Ken, thanks to generous support from people all over the world.
A few dollars and a couple of minutes of your time can change the world for another even the animals.
Till next week. Emmy
